Defibrillation courses in Yorkshire with Livius Events

Cardiac Arrest is the biggest killer in this country. The majority of victims could have been saved if a defibrillator had been available. Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are becoming more common in a range or workplaces. An AED and an individual trained in its use can dramatically increase a casualty’s chance of survival. This very practical course will provide suitably qualified first aid personnel with the skills to use the AED competently and with confidence. This course also revisits some basic first aid skills such as resuscitation.

Duration: A six hour course consisting of theory and practical work along with an assessment.

• Assessment of the situation
• Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
• Heart attacks
• AED safety measures
• Scenario training
• Chain of survival
• Resuscitation
• AED maintenance
• AED use

Certification: There is a formal assessment at the start of the day in order to ensure that all students can resuscitate effectively. There is also an assessment at the end of the course including the practical use of the AED. The qualification is valid for 12 months.

Numbers: A maximum of 8 students can be accommodated on this course and participants must be aged 16 or over.
